True Christian Stories
by Deb Matthews
Welcome! Here's another true Christian story from my collection of things that have really happened to me (including stories about miracles, angels, Civil Air Patrol and God's love and blessings). This one is about God guiding telephone calls across the country to just the right individuals in a telephone center.

I think I get as excited over the "little" things that God does as I do over the big things. On one particular night, I was working as a volunteer telephone counselor for a nationally broadcast crusade. It had been a big step of faith for me to sign up at all, being a little afraid that people might ask questions that I wouldn't be able to answer.
As afraid as I was of not being able to answer, I was even more afraid not to at least try. So far, after a couple hours at it, everything seemed to be going okay. All of the people whom I had talked to were experiencing, or had questions on, things I had encountered myself.
I had finished filling in a counselor sheet after taking a call, and sat back to relax for a minute, welcoming a lull in the calls. I had listened off and on throughout the evening to the other counselors around me as they took calls of their own. One thing I had started noticing earlier was that certain people seemed to talk a lot to the same types of callers. I listened as one fellow hung up and started to tell the counselor next to him about his call.
"That was another young kid who....," he started to tell his co-worker.
Hmmm, I thought. He seems to have had kids all evening.
A lady down the row from me was talking to another worker about several different calls she had taken. All of her calls seemed to fall into a different, yet specific category unique to her.
I thought again about the calls I received that evening myself. Many of them had been from either youth or senior citizens, the two groups I worked a lot with. Some of the calls had been from people of all ages who were going through something that I had been through, or had something to do with specific Bible verses I had studied recently.
One man who was exceptionally good with dealing with depression got calls from people who were depressed, including two suicide calls! Another man got calls that were "right up his alley" so to speak, about another particular need. Everyone seemed to get exactly the right calls for their area of experience.
It slowly dawned on me what a remarkable thing I was witnessing. These telecasts were going on across the entire United States, on different channels, and varying times. There were a hundred of us in these tiny little phone cubicles, prayerfully waiting for people to tune into the telecast and then to call. God was taking the time and the care to guide each individual call over hundreds or thousands of miles of phone lines to get them to exactly the right person to talk to!
Now when I'm tempted to think God is too busy to care about little things in my life, all I have to do is remember all those nights at the phone center and how He cared enough to route each and every call safely across the miles to exactly the right person He had prepared!
